Smart Home – Yong An Park, Singapore
Condominium | River Valley, Singapore | 2 Adult, 2 Children
This condominium was renovated with a clear focus on creating a refined, modern living space where smart home features blend effortlessly into the overall design. The lighting, switches, curtains, and cameras were integrated in a way that feels natural and unobtrusive, supporting the home’s clean lines and luxurious finishes without drawing attention to the technology itself. Every smart element was planned to enhance daily living while preserving the elegance of the interior, resulting in a home that looks sophisticated and timeless, yet offers the ease and convenience of intelligent living.
The living room was designed to feel warm, calm, and quietly luxurious, with the smart features intentionally kept out of sight. The motorised curtains play a key role in shaping the space – soft sheer curtains filter daylight gently during the day, controlled by just a touch of a button. Framed by warm cove lighting and custom carpentry, the curtains move smoothly and silently, complementing the overall ambience rather than drawing attention to themselves. This allows the space to transition effortlessly from bright and open in the daytime to cosy and intimate in the evening, showing how smart automation can elevate everyday living without disrupting the design.
In the bedrooms, a combination of day blinds and curtains was chosen to balance comfort, practicality, and rest. The day blinds soften and filter harsh daylight during the day, reducing glare while still allowing natural light into the room. They are also easier to maintain compared to full fabric curtains, making them ideal for daily use. For the evenings, blackout curtains provide the level of darkness needed for quality sleep, creating a calm and private retreat at night. This layered approach brings together the best of both worlds — effortless daytime light control and complete blackout when it matters most — all integrated seamlessly into the bedroom’s design.
The bathtub area continues the same understated approach to smart living, where functionality is built quietly into the space. Motorised blinds were installed to provide privacy on demand, allowing the area to feel open and connected when desired, and completely secluded with a single touch. This is especially important in a space designed for relaxation, where comfort and peace of mind come first. The blinds integrate neatly with the warm lighting and natural stone finishes, ensuring the technology remains subtle while enhancing the overall bathing experience.
With the motorised blinds and curtains setting the mood throughout the home, lighting was the next layer that brought everything together.
For this residence, we installed smart LED cabinet lights within the display shelving to subtly highlight textures, décor pieces, and finishes. Rather than making a statement on their own, the lights were designed to enhance what’s already there — adding depth and warmth without drawing attention to the technology behind it. The result is a soft, luxurious glow that elevates the cabinetry, especially in the evenings. The LEDs are fully smart and seamlessly integrated into the home system, allowing brightness and ambience to be adjusted effortlessly, or paired with existing scenes for different moods.
What we love about this setup is how invisible the smart element feels. There are no exposed fixtures or harsh lighting — just clean lines, even illumination, and a space that feels refined and thoughtfully designed. It’s a perfect example of how smart lighting can enhance a home without ever looking “techy.”
In the study room, smart LED cabinet lighting is used not just for display, but to provide practical illumination for workbooks, documents, and everyday use. Discreetly concealed within the shelving, the lights deliver even, comfortable brightness across the shelves without glare, making it easy to work while keeping the space calm and refined. The cooler temperature lighting allows better concentration while complementing the wood finishes and maintains the study’s clean, uncluttered look — fully functional, yet quietly luxurious, with the smart technology staying completely out of sight.
Above the dining table, the pendant lights themselves are intentionally kept non-smart, preserving their design and character, while control is handled through H1 gold smart switches. This allows the lights to be turned on, off, or adjusted remotely without altering the fixtures in any way. Surrounding the dining area, Aqara T2 downlights provide flexible ambient lighting, making it easy to shift between everyday meals and hosting guests. Together, this setup shows how smart control can be layered thoughtfully — keeping statement pieces untouched while still delivering the convenience and flexibility of a fully integrated smart home.
This main hallway connects the living room to the rest of the home—leading to the family room, children’s rooms, and master bedroom—making it one of the most frequently used spaces in the house. Instead of cluttering the wall with mismatched controls, the smart switches are cleanly arranged and finished to blend seamlessly with the interior, keeping the space elegant and intentional rather than technical. Despite their minimal look, they control multiple lighting scenes and functions throughout the home, with a tactile V1 dial switch that allows quick dimming or adjustment of light temperature simply by turning it—making everyday control intuitive, effortless, and beautifully integrated into the overall design.
The Aqara E1 cameras are discreetly ceiling-mounted throughout the home, thoughtfully positioned to preserve clean sightlines while ensuring full coverage. With 2K resolution and 360° pan and tilt capability, each camera can clearly monitor an entire space from a single point, reducing visual clutter without compromising security. Like the rest of the smart home setup, they blend quietly into the background—providing peace of mind while maintaining the home’s refined, uncluttered aesthetic.
