Launch of the Aqara Video Doorbell G410

We’re pleased to announce the launch of Aqara’s newest doorbell – the Aqara Video Doorbell G410

Some Background…

The original Aqara Video Doorbell G4 was launched in 2023 as the world’s first battery-operated, HomeKit compatible doorbell camera, and was quickly became one of the top products in our range. Through our conversations with customers, it was clear that having a doorbell camera made a lot of sense – it gives you security at your door, and convenience to see, and talk to whoever’s ringing your doorbell. The option for battery power also made it more convenient to install, but, as usual, we do recommend wiring the outdoor unit for best results.

Differences With The Aqara Video Doorbell G4

The new G410 takes the success of the G4, and makes it better. While it’s mostly incremental upgrades, these upgrades take an already solid product to greater heights. Here are some of the newer features over the Aqara G4:

  • Now works as a Zigbee Hub and a Thread Border Router
  • Available in both White and Black
  • 2K video resolution, compared to the previous 1080p HD
  • 175° field-of-view, much improved over the G4’s 162°
  • A 4:3 aspect ratio shows greater height, compared to the G4’s 16:9 aspect ratio
  • RTSP for connecting to a compatible NAS (both the G4 and G410 can store the videos to NAS by SMB)
  • An mmWave radar for sensing and wake-ups, as opposed to the G4’s PIR sensor

Similarities

In most other aspects, the new Aqara G410 doorbell remains mostly similar, including the physical size and appearance. It still consists of two components – an indoor chime and the outdoor doorbell camera unit.

Indoor Chime

The indoor chime sits inside your home, and serves both as the ‘ding dong speaker’ and as a processor for the video. Videos from the outdoor unit are sent wirelessly to the chime, where it’s processed and then stored on the SD card (the SD card slot is on the chime). It’s also on the chime where the integration happens – it’s connected to your WiFi and integrates into your Aqara Home, Apple Home, Google Home, or any of the other platforms it supports.

The indoor Chime requires power – it has a USB-C port and the box has a USB-C cable. Please note that there isn’t a plug included in the box (much like Apple’s iPhones).

The chime has to be within 10m of the outdoor unit.

Outdoor Camera Doorbell

This is the piece that sits outside your home, next to your door. It can be battery powered by 6 AA batteries, or wired to power. The top half of the body has the camera lens and radar sensor; the bottom half has a big doorbell button. This doorbell button is backlit so it makes it obvious to the visitor that that’s the right spot to press!

Included in the box is a wedge angle adapter in case you want to install the camera at an angle, pointing toward your door.

As the outdoor camera unit and the indoor chime unit are connected wirelessly, they must be placed within a 10m range from each other – the nearer, the better!

Conclusion

As an upgrade to an already excellent product, the Aqara G410 Doorbell makes an easy choice for anyone considering improving their security at home and at their door. As part of the very extensive Aqara smart home ecosystem, it’s almost a no-brainer. But if you’re an existing Aqara G4 doorbell owner, should you upgrade? We don’t think any of the improvements are critical, but we’ll leave that up to you!
