Frequently asked questions

Will the U500 fit my HDB gate?

It fits gates 22–28 mm thick with a 40–45 mm backset and a 3–7 mm door gap, and the gate and frame must sit flush. Grille spacing, mortise cut-outs and clearance vary between gates, so not every gate qualifies — send us a photo and we’ll confirm before you order.

Does it need an Aqara hub?

Not for everyday use — the lock works standalone. Matter over Thread mode needs a Matter Controller and Thread Border Router from your chosen ecosystem. A compatible Aqara hub is needed for Aqara Home integrations, and an Aqara Matter hub if you want it to sync with another Aqara door lock.

Does it support Apple Home Keys?

Yes. Add the key to Apple Wallet and tap to unlock with an iPhone (XR/XS or later) or Apple Watch (Series 4 or later), in Express Mode or a stricter mode that asks for Face ID or a passcode first. Tap to unlock keeps working even when your iPhone is out of battery.

Why does fingerprint on both sides matter on a gate?

A gate’s open design lets anyone reach through to the inside of the lock. On an ordinary lock, that means the interior thumb turn or knob can be turned by a stranger. The U500’s inside panel needs a registered fingerprint or a key, so reach-through unlocking simply doesn’t work.

Can it unlock together with my front-door lock?

Yes — One Tap, Dual Unlock pairs the U500 with another Aqara smart lock through an Aqara Matter hub, opening gate and front door together. We install exactly this combination in our Door + Gate package.
