What “wireless switch” means

The control is wireless. The device being controlled is already smart.

An Aqara wireless switch does not carry electricity to a lamp. It sends a command through an Aqara Zigbee hub to a wired smart switch, smart light, curtain, air-conditioner controller or scene.

This makes the control easy to place and reassign. It also means a wireless switch is not a standalone replacement for an ordinary electrical switch.

Wireless does not mean Wi-Fi here. The current controls on this page use low-power Aqara Zigbee and need a compatible Aqara Zigbee hub. They do not connect directly to your home Wi-Fi network.

Does an Aqara wireless switch need electrical wiring?

No. The wireless switch itself is battery-powered and does not need live or neutral wiring. It sends commands to the Aqara system; a compatible smart light, wired smart switch, relay or other controllable device still performs the actual electrical action.

Does an Aqara wireless switch need a hub?

Yes. The current D1, H1, Wireless Mini Switch T1, Wireless Knob Switch H1 and Cube T1 Pro controls use Aqara Zigbee and need a compatible Aqara Zigbee hub. They do not connect directly to Wi-Fi.

Can a wireless switch control an ordinary light?

Not by itself. The ordinary light must first be controlled by a compatible wired smart switch, relay or smart-lighting device. The wireless switch can then send the command through the Aqara hub.

Can a wireless switch control Aqara smart lights?

Yes. Configure the wireless switch to control a supported light, group or lighting scene. A compatible Aqara wired switch can also use decoupled mode so its buttons send wireless commands to smart lights without cutting their power.

What is the difference between D1 and H1 wireless switches?

D1 provides a white wall-style remote in one-button and two-button versions. H1 provides a premium double-rocker wall-style remote; the H1 family also includes a separate wireless rotary knob for supported dimming and colour-temperature control.

Can I put a wireless switch beside the bed?

Yes. Bedside control is one of its most useful applications. It can control room lights or call a goodnight scene containing lights, curtains, air-conditioning and other compatible devices without adding a wired switch point.

Will wireless switches still work if the internet is down?

Many Aqara Zigbee scenes and automations can run locally through a compatible hub after setup, but exact behaviour depends on the hub, target devices and configuration. Remote app access and cloud-dependent functions still need internet.
