A smart lock is not a universal appliance. Door construction, the existing lock body, handle clearance, frame and gate design decide what can be installed cleanly and securely.

Mortise replacement locks

Replace the main lock body inside the door. They suit many Singapore entry doors, but handle style, existing cut-outs and door material still need checking.

Smart gate locks Singapore

Choose a gate lock that cannot be unlocked through the grille.

A normal door lock can be insecure on an open grille because its interior thumbturn is accessible from outside. Gate locks use a protected mounting arrangement or an inside authentication method suited to that exposure.

Face recognition

D200i recognises an enrolled face in 3D for hands-free entry, with other unlock methods retained as backups.

Fingerprint

Fast and natural for family members. Available on many—but not all—models; B50 and U50 are notable current choices without it.

PIN and guest codes

Useful for household members, helpers and time-limited visitors. Check whether the required guest-code type works locally or needs a connected hub.

NFC cards

Tap a compatible Aqara NFC card on supported locks. Cards are useful for people who should not need a phone or remember a PIN.

Apple Home Key

Tap a compatible iPhone or Apple Watch on supported locks. This is distinct from UWB hands-free unlocking.

UWB hands-free unlock

U400 can unlock as an authorised user approaches with a supported UWB Apple device, without needing a tap.

App, logs and automations

Check status, manage users and use the lock in arrival or away scenes. Remote features depend on the lock, hub/controller and ecosystem.

Mechanical and emergency access

Depending on the model, backup access may include a physical key, emergency USB power or an interior manual control.

Smart door-lock questions.

What is the difference between a digital lock and a smart lock?

A digital lock replaces key-only entry with methods such as fingerprint, PIN, card or face recognition. A smart lock adds connected functions such as app management, status, logs, remote access or automations. The exact connected features depend on the lock and its hub or controller.

How do I know whether a smart lock will fit my door?

Identify the existing lock type and send clear photos of the outside, inside, open edge, frame and full entrance. Door material, thickness, backset, existing cut-outs and nearby handles all affect fit. Do not assume that a lock described as mortise or deadbolt fits every door in that category.

Which smart locks work on an HDB metal gate?

Aqara U500 has a purpose-built gate configuration. U100 Gate Kit includes a compatible gate lock box, and selected B50 and U400 options can suit some gates. HomeSmart's standalone Metal Gate Lock is another option. Every gate still needs a fit check because grille, mortise and clearance designs vary.

Which Aqara smart locks support Apple Home Key?

Current Home Key choices include A100, D100, D200i, U50, U100, U200 Kit, U300, U400 and U500. Compatible Apple devices and an appropriate Apple home hub may be required. Apple Home Key is not the same as UWB hands-free unlocking, which is a defining U400 feature on supported devices.

Does an Aqara smart lock need a hub?

Most locks can perform their core local unlock methods without a hub, but remote access, integrations and automations may require an Aqara hub, Thread border router, Matter controller or Apple home hub depending on the model. Check the individual product rather than applying one hub rule to the whole range.

What happens if the smart lock battery runs out?

Backup arrangements vary by model and can include low-battery warnings, emergency USB power, a mechanical key, an interior manual control or use of the existing cylinder. Confirm the exact model's emergency route and keep the necessary key or power source accessible outside the locked entrance.

Can my door and gate use the same fingerprint, PIN or card?

Often, yes: the same fingerprint or PIN can be enrolled separately in compatible locks, and selected cards can be added to both. That does not mean the two locks are one device or always unlock together. App, Home Key and coordinated-unlock behaviour depend on the particular pair and hub/controller setup.

Does HomeSmart provide smart-lock installation?

Yes. Many lock prices include installation on the standard opening described on the product page; retrofit or special variants may differ. Non-standard doors, aluminium, gates, fabrication, rectification and other additional work are assessed and quoted after a fit check.
