Some people want the whole home smart. Others want a few things done well, such as the lights, the front door or the air-con. Get started with a few devices, and add more later – it’s up to you. We help you work out what’s worth doing in your home, and what it costs.

Getting started

A smart home is a collection of interconnected smart devices, each helping you control a different part of your home. Getting started with a smart home simply means starting with one of these five.

Large open-plan home with integrated smart lighting

Smart lighting

Smart lighting is the simplest and most impactful way to create a smart home. Lights are an essential part of our homes, and we use them every day, so turning your lights smart is the natural first step.

Smart appliances

Air-conditioners and fans are something else we use every day in sunny Singapore. Smart air-con and fan control means greater convenience and reduced energy usage, even with your existing appliances.

Smart curtains and blinds

Time-based automations, such as your curtains opening automatically at 7am just as you’re getting up, get the sun into your home and get you ready for the day. Blinds closing in the evening signal that it’s time to wind down.

Home monitoring and security

With a well-connected smart home, you’ll be able to know many things about your home, even when you’re away. Our smart door locks aren’t just digital locks: they can be fully integrated into your smart home.

Automations and remote controls

Once set up, your lights and appliances can be controlled by your phone, even when you’re not at home. A smart home can also be set up so that it doesn’t have to be controlled at all, by using automations.

Things to think about

A few decisions shape the rest of the plan. We go through them with you at the showroom, or you can read ahead here.

Renovating, or already moved in

Renovation is the time to prepare wiring for switches, curtains and door locks. If you already live in the home, wireless devices cover most of it without rewiring.

Apple Home or Google Home

Aqara devices work with Apple Home, Google Home and Alexa, so your household can keep using the app it already knows.
