One of the most intriguing features of this home is the lighting design. The living room has Aqara T1 RGB LED strips that line the cove lighting along the ceiling. Though these LED strips are typically used in plug-and-play setups, in this case, they were professionally installed with power provisioned above the ceiling for a clean, seamless look.

The LED strips are not just for ambiance, they’re designed to be able to sync with music! With an Apple HomePod located near the living room’s TV console area, the lights change colour and pulse in response to the rhythm of the music, adding an exciting, dynamic element to any gathering. Whether it’s a movie night or a more relaxed evening, the lights can be adjusted to suit the mood, creating an immersive and interactive atmosphere.

Throughout the home, all lighting is controlled by the Aqara H1 champagne smart switches. These switches blend beautifully with the home’s design while providing intuitive control over lighting and other smart devices. The H1 switches are part of a complete Aqara ecosystem, allowing the homeowner to easily control their home’s lighting and other smart functions with just a click.

While Aqara does not supply power sockets, the homeowner chose to integrate our smart switches due to their sleek design and exceptional functionality. The result is a fully connected, easy-to-control environment that makes managing everything from lighting to curtains effortless.

For a truly immersive movie-watching experience, motorized curtain tracks were installed for the living room’s night curtains. With the touch of a button or with voice control such as Hey Siri, the curtains close automatically, blocking out light and creating a theater-like atmosphere. At the same time, the lights dim, and the RGB LED cove lighting kicks in to set the perfect mood. The curtains, lighting, and entertainment systems work in unison, transforming the living room into a true cinema experience with minimal effort from the homeowner.

The Aqara S1 MagicPad is the central hub for controlling all the smart features of the home. Installed near the main entrance, the MagicPad serves as a control center for the lights, smart switches, curtains, and even home security cameras. Beyond just managing devices, it allows the homeowner to view live footage from Aqara cameras around the house, providing an added layer of convenience and security.

To elevate the security of the home, we installed two Aqara camera hubs: the G3 Hub and the G2H Pro Hub. These hubs serve dual purposes: they act as gateways for connecting Aqara devices to the Aqara app, while also functioning as surveillance for the home.

The G3 Hub, located in the living room, not only serves as a camera hub but also features a built-in IR blaster for air conditioning control. This adds an extra layer of functionality, allowing the homeowner to control their climate from the same hub. The G2H Pro Hub is installed near the main entrance, providing clear video footage of anyone who is nearby the door. Both hubs allow the homeowner to monitor live video feeds from the cameras in the Aqara app, or straight from the S1 MagicPad, providing easy access to security footage from anywhere in the home or outdoors.

To secure the home’s entrance, the Aqara G4 video doorbell was installed outside. Chosen to be powered by 6 AA batteries, the doorbell is equipped with motion detection, ensuring that footage is recorded whenever movement is detected near the door. Homeowners receive notifications directly to their phone if someone lingers near the entrance, and they can view live footage through the Aqara app or on the S1 Magic Pad. This smart doorbell offers both convenience and peace of mind, knowing that the homeowner can always see who’s at the door—even when they’re not home.

To enhance automation throughout the home, the motion sensor P1 were strategically placed in various rooms, including the bathrooms. These sensors are battery-operated, making them easy to install in any space. The sensors detect movement, automatically triggering lights to turn on when someone enters a room. The motion sensors contribute to the overall smart home experience by ensuring that the space is always illuminated when needed, while conserving energy when rooms are unoccupied.

With these smart home devices, every element of the home works in harmony to create a space that’s both functional and beautiful. Whether it’s the lighting, security, or climate control, every part of the house is integrated into a cohesive Aqara ecosystem that makes everyday life more convenient and enjoyable.
