Smart Home -Draycott Road, Singapore

Condominium | Orchard, Singapore | 2 Adults

Beautifully designed by one of our very established interior design partners, this apartment in Draycott boasts both woody, natural tones; and smart functionalities. As a smart home, it doesn’t go very deep – with only smart switches, hubs, and a smart door lock. However, the simplicity of these devices working together means a home that’s easy to control and set up. Best part? Our clients are Apple users – with the full range of Apple Hardware. As our products all work with Apple HomeKit, our clients were able to use Apple Home as their basis for their smart home, and have the devices natively integrated into their Apple Hardware.

Our clients appreciate the finer things in life, and that includes things like lighting – being able to create different scenes and atmospheres for different moods. In this case, the designer didn’t opt for smart lighting; instead, he went for multiple lighting types in different areas, and having them all leading to multiple gangs of smart switches. This means the possibility of creating many different scenes based on the different permutations of lights turning on or off – all controlled by our smart home system.

As an example, here are the four Aqara D1 Switches – totalling up to 11 gangs! Each gang controls a different light, such as cove, magnetic track, strips on the carpentry, downlights, pendant – all just for the living room alone. Each of these lights serve a different function, and our clients were able to create different scenes by keeping some lights on, and some lights off. For example, in a “Movie time” scene, just the LEDs along the floor sufficed for soft, ambient lighting, while the rest of the lights will be turned off.

The same switches are used throughout the rest of the home, including the entryway, kitchen, and multiple bedrooms.

The clients opted for an Aqara Hub M2 as their Zigbee hub, connecting their smart switches to the network and giving it all smart, wireless controls. The M2 Hub is an easy choice due to its wide wireless range, and that it can be used for smart air-conditioner control. In this image above, the hub sits on the client’s bedside table.

We appreciated the details of the ceiling and the lighting, including this magnetic track light that isn’t smart by itself, but is made smarter by our smart switches.

To round it all off, our clients had opted to install an Aqara A100 Smart Door Lock with a biometric fingerprint access, plus other access methods such as PIN codes and NFC cards. But perhaps the best part of the lock – compatibility with Apple Home Keys! This means it can be unlocked with a tap of your iPhone, similar to using Apple Pay. The industrial black of the lock looks beautifully in place on the dark wood of the door.
